New York resident, Stuart Weitzman started designing shoes for his father’s factory in the early 1960’s when he was in his 20’s. After graduating with a degree in business from The University of Pennsylvania, Weitzman decided to re-inherit his late father’s business from a company in Spain, where he still manufactures his designs. Born in Thailand and raised in Southern California, it was while working at Barneys that Lim realized his call to fashion. After relocating to New York, Lim and and business partner, Wen Zhou, debuted 3.1 Phillip Lim in 2005. They agreed on 3.1 Phillip Lim for the company name, because they were both 31 at the time. 3.1 provides cool, easy, chic looks with a youthful elegance and an unmistakable signature style.
Since its debut in 2009, R13's avant-garde denim silhouettes have garnered a cult status among those aiming to capture the rebellious American spirit. After graduating from Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts, where he studied alongside the Antwerp Six, Belgian designer Martin Margiela went on to work with several notable designers, including Jean Paul Gaultier, before establishing his eponymous line in 1989. Known for keeping an extremely low profile, Margiela is noted for his avant-garde approach to fashion and art of deconstruction.
